At a syndicate meeting of the University of Dhaka, the researcher from the Department of Arabic under the Faculty of Arts—Peer Sahib Qibla of Talim-e-Zikr Manikganj Darbar Sharif, and a bona fide Khalifa of the Chishtia Sabiria Sufi order—Hazrat Maulana Mufti Dr. Muhammad Manzurul Islam Siddiqi, has been awarded a Ph.D. degree for his dissertation titled "Imam A'zam Abu Hanifa (R.A.): His Contributions to the Science of Fiqh."    

His research supervisor was the recently deceased, nationally renowned scholar, Bangladesh’s foremost Arabic language expert, double gold medalist, multilingual linguist, and prolific author—Professor A.N.M. Abdul Mannan Khan Sahib, former Professor and Chairman of the Department of Arabic, University of Dhaka. This was the result of his extensive and tireless research of nine-year-long. In this book, he has elaborately discussed the biography of Imam Abu Hanifa (R.A.), his lineage, evidence of his acquisition of knowledge directly from the noble companions (Sahabah) and his status as a Tabi‘i, his efforts in seeking knowledge, the special affection his teachers had for him, his sharp intellect, profound wisdom and foresight, distinctive qualities, introductions to renowned teachers, his excellence in research and the science of Fiqh, his professional and teaching life, and his status as a great saint of the highest spiritual rank in his era. The book also addresses the origin and development of the Hanafi school of jurisprudence (Fiqh Hanafi), its spread across the world, Imam Abu Hanifa’s contributions to Islamic jurisprudence, the socio-cultural context of the time, and the global influence of the Hanafi school. This work constitutes his Ph.D. dissertation. 

Hazrat Maulana Mufti Dr. Muhammad Manzurul Islam Siddiqi Sahib had previously completed his Alim degree in 1982 and Fazil degree in 1985 from Bangladesh Manikganj Islamia Senior Madrasa....He later pursued higher education at the University of Dhaka, where he secured 10th position in the merit list in the B.A. (Honours) in Arabic in 1988, and 2nd position in the M.A. (Arabic) examination in 1992. In addition, he obtained an LL.B. degree from Central Law College under the University of Dhaka, and an M.M. (Al-Hadith) degree from Mohammadpur Alia Madrasa, Dhaka. Endowed with natural talent and blessed by the special prayers (du‘a) of his father, he did not need to spend excessive time on his studies. In 1994, he completed an M.Phil. in Arabic Classics. Later, following his father's instruction, he enrolled as a Ph.D. researcher under the University of Dhaka in 1998.Alongside his deep knowledge of Arabic literature, Dr. Muhammad Manzurul Islam Siddiqi Sahib, by the grace of Almighty Allah, also possesses profound understanding in a variety of disciplines including medical science, space science, philosophy, psychology, physics, chemistry, jurisprudence, and the science of Hanafi Fiqh. He has authored several research-based books, including The Bengali Translation of Al-Qur’an al-Karim, Ta‘lime Zikr, When the Gaze Turns to Bangladesh, Stay Healthy, Al-Tawfiq, Ta‘limul Qur’an, and Naam Neelima. He is the eldest son and chief khalifa of one of the prominent Muslim scholars and spiritual leaders of Siddiqnagar in Manikganj district—Peer-e-Kamil and Mukammil, Professor Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Azharul Islam Siddiqi Sahib (R.A.). On December 12, 2009, at the 45th convocation of the University of Dhaka, the Honorable President of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Mr. Zillur Rahman, officially conferred upon him the Ph.D. degree (original certificate).
